Yesterday Abigail turned four months old.
And…it’s amazing how the memory of back labor really stays with a person.
Four months ago today, I was probably operating on about two hours of sleep. Today? Nine hours. Oddly enough, I’m still totally exhausted. I guess it’s because I’ve been a mother for four months longer, which makes [...]

People on a budget should really stay the hell away from Etsy. I just had to give myself two stern lectures and one mild threat to keep from buying this for my daughter.

My husband was supposed to have foot surgery today.
He didn’t (thank you, Lord), and the reason why is a long, long story, but I owe a huge debt of gratitude to a bunch of people who totally stepped up to the plate for us when they thought he would be having surgery. These people [...]

So our hopelessly dorky alma mater has finally broken into network teevee:
HOPKINS
(dun dun dunnnnn!)
“ABC…takes an intimate look at the men and women who call The Johns Hopkins Hospital their home.”
I believe I speak for all of us when I say, please, let’s not make it too intimate, okay?

I personally don’t enjoy being [...]

Something I never would have guessed before becoming a parent is how delighted, giddy even, I would feel just looking at cute pictures of my daughter. I go overboard taking and posting photos of her, I suppose, but show me a new parent who doesn’t.
It’s not that two-dimensional Abby in a picture is more adorable [...]
too bad she can’t date until she’s 33.

Today we attended the baptism of James Elijah Jr. (also known as Lije), born to our friends Millie and James on Cinco de Mayo – my newest and cutest birthday twin. Yes, in 21 years or so, I will buy him what I PRESUME will be his first birthday margarita.
At the reception afterwards, while [...]
